My goal is to recycle "junk" into captivating images to please your eye and perhaps leave you a bit intrigued by just what it is you're seeing.

Inspiration

While beachcombing one day in February of 2006 at Road's End in Lincoln City, Oregon I came across a massive conglomeration of cast metal, tires, chain and rope that had washed up on shore after a winter storm.  I was fascinated by the effects produced by the oxidation process on the metal components and spent some time capturing close-up images. After printing them I was struck by their similarity to contemporary abstract paintings.

From this came the inspiration for the Oxidation series.

Since then I've photographed the rusted metal surfaces of abandoned cars and trucks, dumpsters, mining equipment, and industrial machinery.  In all of them I see the intricate beauty of color, texture, and form.
